“The Cureheads are proud to announce the appointment of a brand new drummer. Please join us in welcoming Andy Anderson, an amazing musician who has played with Hawkwind, The Glove, The Cure, Iggy pop, Levinhurst to name just a few wonderful collaborations.
After rehearsals he will join us for our London venue Show on Oct 26th then Sunderland, Stockton and then on our South American Tour in November.
Back in the mists of time, namely the early eighties, you rarely got to see goth, alternative and post-punk bands on the TV – let alone playing live. And it is quite difficult to find high quality, complete versions of such performances (excepting the odd clip on an Old Grey Whistle Test compilation DVD).
So this Dark Circle Room post about Killing Joke’s two Tube appearances is very welcome. The shows, from late 83 and early 85, are Killing Joke at a great time, just after Raven (RIP) had joined the band.
I especially like the fresh-faced Jaz!
I thought Choice of Weapon – the most recent Cult LP – was okay. It is definitely backward facing, being an amalgam of sounds, style and sonics from Electric, Ceremony and Sonic Temple. But CoW seems to bee a bit overblown, and the production’s all a bit stadium rawk.
So the cult have just released a “prequel” to CoW (WTF!? I hear you ask) – a collection of demos, mixes-in-progress and alternate mixes. Its only available for two months, and exclusively through iTunes. Its a fiver (£5 to you). I have had a listen to the previews and it may just be worth a listen!
There will be two album releases next year and a very small run of headline shows to coincide with the release of the first album. Details of the album to follow Later in the year.
2012 finally gets its US release in November through Universal Records. Apologies it’s taken forever but we were trying to get some US dates in around the release but simply ran out of time.
In summary they think it “sounds like new order” and “Eighties is the best track”. Well, right on one count.
Today on “Is This Shit,”we will be listening to Killing Joke’s single “Sanity” along with the B-Sides, Sanity (Edited Version) and Eighties. We will also be giving our commentary in between the tracks. At the end of the video we will finally answer the question, “Is This Shit?”
This is what the interwebs were invented for – the Killing Joke meme generator!
